1

Day 1

Depart Kampala and drive to Sipi Falls/Mt. Elgon. Enjoy a lazy afternoon before the next few days of hiking.
2

Day 2

From Budadiri (elevation 1100 m / 3609 ft) you will walk up an unused and washed out road to Bumgabula village. As the old road ends, the trail will become much steeper. There are several trails here, so a guide his very useful. The scenery is spectacular so keep your camera ready. You’ll continue east on a steep trail up to “the Wall of Death”, spectacular cliffs with amazing views. Don’t worry, they aren’t as bad as their name implies. En route you will climb a few bamboo ladders.  The steepest part of the climb ends shortly after these cliffs. From here on it’s an enjoyable trek through the jungle. Keep an eye out for Colubus and Blue monkeys. You’ll camp at the Sasa River Camp (2900 m / 9514 ft).
3

Day 3

This is a shorter day as you hike to Mude Cave camp (3400 m / 11155 ft). The trail is easy to find, and the walk is pleasant. There are some nice views once you reach timer line.
4/5

Day 4-5

You have a few options:
• Trek to Suam River Gorge, crater floor and hot springs (22 km / 14 mi round trip). There is a lovely waterfall en route. 1 day hike.
• Climb to Wagagai Peak, the highest peak of Mt Elgon (4321 m / 14172 ft). Amazing view if weather permits. This can be a 1 day hike depending on your fitness/skill level.
• Climb to Jackson Summit, a lower peak on Mt Elgon. This can be a 1 day hike depending on your fitness/skill level.
• Stay near Mude Cave Camp. Visit hot springs and waterfalls on Day 3 and summit on Day 4.

6

Day 6

Trek from Mude River Camp back to Budadiri, your starting point. This usually takes all day.
7

Day 7

Return to Kampala at your ease.
