**This trip originates in Kampala, but we are able to begin/end trips according to your needs**

MOST POPULAR ROUTE: Kampala > Maasai Mara > Hells Gate > Kampala  (6-7 days)

1

Day 1

Depart Kampala/Entebbe/Jinja early morning and drive to the Ugandan/Kenyan border. Visa clearance takes approximately 30 mins-1 hour. Continue driving for 3 hours to Kisumu on Lake Victoria. This is Kenya’s second largest city and home to a wonderful fish lunch. There are a few malls here in case you need to buy anything you forgot. Overnight here or, to make the drive shorter tomorrow, we can continue on the road to Kisii.
2

Day 2

Wake early and drive for approximately 6 hours from Kisumu or Kisii towards the Masai Mara. Please know that the road in to the Mara is quite bumpy, so we definitely want an early start just to make it there at a reasonable hour. We can overnight either inside or outside the park per your requirements.
3

Day 3

Another early wake up to have breakfast before we enter the park. We’ll have an all day game drive until approximately 6:30 pm. Lunch will be packed or we can have a small cookout in the middle of the park. This is a long day, but it’s worth it.

Either way, the Masai Mara is where you can expect to see all the big animals we have in Africa. This park is magnificent! While we can’t guarantee you see them all, in one day we’ve seen a black rhino, elephants, leopards, lions, buffalos, Masai giraffes, ostriches, cheetahs, wild dogs, hyenas, hippos, wildebeests, zebras, crocodiles, and many, many more. Wake up early morning at 6 am and have breakfast.  Start the game drive for the whole day till 6:30 pm. We will take parked lunch or we will cook our own lunch in the middle of safari.

NB: Wildebeest/Zebra Migration Seasons:
The Wildebeest Migration in East Africa, also known as “The Great Migration” takes place between Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and Kenya’s Masai Mara. It is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on the planet. Thousands of wildebeest and zebra’s migrate between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara, constantly driven by their search for fresh grazing. The massive herds are closely followed by predators (lion, hyena and cheetah) making the most of every opportunity to catch their next meal.

The precise timing of the annual wildebeest migration depends on the rains. It is a very unpredictable and spontaneous natural event, with calving season taking place in the Serengeti between January and mid-March. The wildebeest migration starts to head towards the Western Serengeti in May or June and also September when it’s so dry in Masai Mara.

Day 4

You can either decide to remain at the Masai Mara and have another day in the park, or we can drive towards Naivasha to discover Hells Gate National Park (on Day 5). If you choose the Hells Gate option and wish to return to Kampala at the end of the trip, please add 1 extra day to the itinerary.

Hells Gate National Park allows you to experience a bicycle safari. Your route takes you directly next to zebras grazing and other animals. You’ll hike through a canyon.

5

Day 5

Depending on your itinerary, we can either begin the drive back to Kampala (if you opted to stay in the Mara another night) or you enjoy the bicycle safari in Hells Gate.  If you choose to drive back to Kampala, you can spend the night in Kisumu, Kenya or cross in to Uganda. It’s a long drive, so we’d have to get an early start.
6

Day 6

Return to Kampala or, if you opted for Hells Gate, begin the drive back to Uganda and overnight in Kisumu.  Alternatively we can drop you in Nairobi.
7

Day 7

If you opted for Hells Gate, this is the day you’d return to Kampala.
