1

Day 1

Drive east from Kampala to visit Jinja, the sleepy, relaxed city situated at the Source of the Nile. Enjoy a boat ride to the Source of the Nile, or choose from a range of adventure activities including white water rafting* around Bujagali Falls, or bungee jumping on the Nile. En route to Jinja we pass many sugar cane and tea plantations plus forests where we can also do forest walks, zip lining, etc.

*If you are planning on rafting this same day, we need to leave very early in the morning.

2

Day 2

Begin driving towards Sipi Falls/Mt. Elgon and reach there early afternoon. You have two options once we arrive. For each one, we recommend planning on spending sundown atop a viewpoint where you can see the far western edge of the Eastern Rift Valley.

Option 1: Hike to see the three falls. This takes between 4-6 hours depending on your fitness level. Hikes around the falls offer stunning views of the Karamoja plains, Lake Kyoga, and the slopes of Mt. Elgon. You will also visit Uganda’s highest waterfalls on the mountain + the largest caldera/crater on top of a mountain on earth.

Option 2: Relax as you learn to pick, roast and make your own coffee (keep it as a souvenir!).

3

Day 3

Depart Sipi and drive towards Kidepo, #1 African park for rare species and #3 African National Park. It’s a really long drive, so we recommend you break it up by overnighting in Moroto or Kotido, the largest towns in the region. Arrive late evening and relax.

4

Day 4

Begin the rest the drive to Kidepo National Park. Enter the park and enjoy a mini-game drive en route to your accommodation for the evening. You’ll have another game drive in the evening before relaxing. The lions are amazing here so keep your eyes open! Evening drives are amazing because of the flat savannah and stunning sunsets!

5

Day 5

Enjoy a morning game drive in Kidepo watching the park wake up. The savannah environment allows for perfect viewing of lions, elephants and giraffe! We’ll exit the park around 11 am to drive 7 hours to Murchison Falls National Park. If you want to slow down a bit, we can also stop in Gulu, the capital of northern Uganda. It’s a small city but makes for a great break from being on the road so much.

6

Day 6

If we made it to Murchison Falls, we’d wake up early morning (6 am) and either eat or pack your breakfast. We’ll enter the park for an early morning game drive in Uganda’s largest national park spread around the Nile. After lunch, around 2 pm, you’ll get a break from the road and enjoy a river cruise among hippos and crocodiles. You’ll end up at the base of the falls, the world’s strongest waterfalls. Exit the boat and have a small hike to the top of the falls. These are simply magnificent so don’t knock ‘em until you see ‘em. When you are done, on the way out of the park, you’ll enjoy another evening game drive. Rest up tonight because we have a long day of driving tomorrow.

7

Day 7

After a later breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala (5-6 hours). Arrive in Kampala in the evening.

Don’t forget that this tour comes with a free city tour of Kampala! You can use it before or after this tour (no rain checks or deferring, sorry). Let us know what you want to do!
